Unique Diaper Cakes

By themselves, diaper cakes are unique baby shower gifts, but not all diaper cakes are created equal. A basic diaper cake consists of 70 to 150 diapers tied together and arranged in tiers, making a useful and attractive present for expecting parents at a baby shower. Rattlecake, however, takes our diaper cakes a step further. Each tall diaper cake is decorated with colorful ribbons and many vibrant baby products: stuffed animals, blankets, bath items, clothing, or toys. This extra step makes our unique diaper cakes colorful and useful on a number of levels to new parents.

Each of our unique diaper cakes starts with 70 to 150 diapers. Each diaper is rolled together, and all are formed into tiers. Typically, two to four tiers are used for our diaper cakes. But diaper cakes often do double duty at a baby shower: During the party, a cake is the colorful centerpiece, and afterwards, it is given to the expecting parents as a gift. To be colorful at the shower, all of our unique diaper cakes have baby products attached to the outside, and once given as a gift, the cake provides expecting parents with a large starting supply of diapers and a few necessary baby products.

Tying each diaper cake together is a theme and color scheme. An animal theme is used for many of our unique diaper cakes; with a plush stuffed animal on top, each unique diaper cake may have a frog, monkey, jungle animal, dog, or rabbit theme. Holidays, sports, and flowers are some of the other themes we use for diaper cakes.

In addition to a theme, the design and products used for each cake are coordinated by colors. We stick with pink or blue for many diaper cakes and may use a few modern twists; for example, some of our unique diaper cakes come in brown and pink or brown and blue. Neutral cakes in green, yellow, or brown, as well, make up a significant portion of our selection.
