How to Make a Diaper Cake

A diaper cake isn’t all about style. This baby gift offers new parents many practical items that will be used long after the baby shower has ended.  All diaper cakes by Rattlecake are made from a combination of diapers and other practical baby products. This includes baby clothes, toys, bathing supplies, and blankets, in addition to 80 to 150 diapers packaged together.

If you want to know how to make a good diaper cake, the process to create one is not overly complicated, yet it takes a good amount of time to do it right.  All diaper cakes start with 80 to 150 diapers (depending on how many tiers the diaper cake has), ribbon to secure the individual tiers and cake board together, and various baby products to attach to the outside.

To begin, each individual diaper for the exterior of each tier is rolled and secured with a clear rubber band.  Once this has been done to all of the diapers, each tier can be formed.  The tiers usually consists of two circles: an inner one is formed and tied with ribbon, and an outer layer is added to this and also tied with ribbon.  The inner circle is "built" by starting with a rolled diaper in the center and then layering the diapers around it until you get the size you need.  The outer circle consists of the rolled diapers placed side by side around the inner circle and then secured with ribbon.

The last step for how to make a diaper cake is attaching any baby products.
